Day 1: Bangalore to Chikmagalur | Chikmagalur Arrival & Sightseeing

On the first day of the trip, you visit two popular attractions and explore them at ease. Visit the Hirekolale Lake, which is an artificial lake at the foothills of magnificent Mullayanagiri hills. This lake offers a breathtaking location with the backdrop of Mullayanagiri hills and dense greenery all around. Although built to serve the water requirements of the region, it is now a popular picnic spot promising mesmerising views, especially of the Sunset.

Next you visit the Coffee Museum, which came into existence from the initiatives of the Coffee Board of India. The museum has a coffee evaluation and training centre as well. Located only 13 km away from the town’s centre, it is a must visit for coffee lovers. Here you learn everything about coffee making, which starts from plucking and drying. You also learn about roasting, grinding and powdering of the coffee beans.

Day 2: Chikmagalur Sightseeing

After a wholesome breakfast at the hotel, you leave for the second day of the sightseeing tour.

The day begins with visiting Mullayanagiri Peak, which is the highest peak of Karnataka, standing tall with an impressive height of 1,925 metres above sea level. It is popular for trekking as well as panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Next you visit Baba Budangiri Hills, which is dedicated to the great Sufi Saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar. This hill has three caves where three saints are said to have been buried. It is also a common trekking site.

You then visit Seethalayana Giri Temple, a significant shrine of the area. Offer prayers or just visit it for spending time amid its pious environment. From here leave for the Honnamana Halla Falls. Also known as ManikyaDhara Falls, these falls also have religious associations. The view of Baba Budangiri Hills from the falls is especially enchanting, along with of course the huge streams of water cascading down into a pool.

Another waterfall that you will see on day two is the Jhari Falls. Flowing down the rocks in massive streams with greenery all around make this fall one of the most beautiful. They are also popularly called Buttermilk Falls.

Day 3: Chikmagalur Sightseeing | Chikmagalur to Bangalore

Our driver will drive you to Belur, which will take 40 minutes of time. In Belur, visit the famous Sri Chennakeshava Temple. It's a star-shaped temple with Hoysala temple architecture. Built in the 12th century, it was built by Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana to celebrate his victory over the Chola Dynasty. This massive temple is dedicated to Lord Vijayanarayana.

From here you leave for Halebidu which will take around 25 minutes of time. Visit Halebidu Hoysaleswara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was also built in the 12th century and is considered to be the largest temple built by Hoyasala Rulers. It is a twin shrine temple, boasting of intricate carvings and designs. It also has a museum with more than 1500 sculptures.

Next you visit Shravanabelagola, which will take around 1 and half hours from Halebidu. Visit the grand Gomateshwara Statue, with an impressive height of 57 feet. This monolithic statue is located on the Vindhyagiri Hill and is made out of single granite rock.
