Day 1: Mysore/ Mangalore to Chikmagalur | Chikmagalur Arrival & Sightseeing

The 4 day trip starts from Mysore or from Mangalore. A professional driver will pick up from Mysore or Mangalore hotel / home in a private car. You will have a smooth ride from your pickup destination to Chikmagalur.

As you reach Chikmagalur, a driver will drop you at the chosen hotel. You can check in at the hotel and freshen up. After some rest, the driver will pick you for an entire day of sightseeing.

The trip begins by visiting a waterfall- Hebbe Falls, which is one of the most scenic waterfalls of Chikmagalur. You and your loved ones can spend as much time as you want amid the hypnotising scenic beauty of this waterfall. Sit quietly and listen to the thunderous sound of cascading water or look at the lush greenery all around. Next you visit the Rose garden. As the name suggests this unique garden is filled with several varieties of roses. Go for a leisure walk as you explore different and rare roses here.

Next you leave for Kemmanagundi which is a small hill station with mesmerising viewpoints, treks and waterfalls. Kemmannugundi view is a prominent tourist attraction in Chikmagalur. Equally popular is the Z point. You will have Z point trekking, where you go through a scenic track with dense flora all around. The view of western ghats is also absolutely stunning from here. From here, you leave for Kallathigiri Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva seeking blessings at this ancient temple. Next to it, visit the Kallathigiri waterfalls which are often known as Kalhatti falls.

Return to Chikmagalur. Eat at a local restaurant or spend some time shopping at the local market.

Day 2: Chikmagalur Sightseeing

After enjoying a complimentary breakfast, you will leave for sightseeing on the second day of your 4 day Chikmagalur tour.

The first place you visit is the Mullayanagiri Peak, which at a height of 1,925 metres above sea level, is the highest peak of Karnataka. This peak is a sought after trekking site with enchanting views of the surrounding valleys. From here, go to the Seethalayana Giri Temple and spend a few quiet moments with the divine. Then leave for Honnamana Halla Falls or the ManikyaDhara Falls, which is around 25 km from Kemmanagundii. These falls entrance every visitor with their vast streams of waters flowing down the rocks and the enchanting view of Baba Budangiri Hills.

Visit Jhari Falls and get immersed in its transcendental scenic beauty of huge water streams cascading down into a pool. This waterfall is also referred to as Buttermilk Falls. From here visit the Baba Budangiri Hills. Associated with sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar, this hill is also home to 3 caves inside which three great saints have been buried. It is also a common site of trekking and views.

Return to Chikmagalur hotel. Retire for the night at the hotel.

Day 3: Chikmagalur Sightseeing

Have breakfast at the hotel and then start the third day of the trip.

Visit Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple. Situated in Horanadu, it is around 92 km from Chikmagalur but with a chauffeured taxi by your side, you can comfortably reach here. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Annapoorna. Built by Agastya Maharishi, this temple is more than 400 years old. Located by the side of River Bhadra, it is surrounded by forests and the scenic valleys, creating a mesmerising site.

Then you visit Kudremukh National Park, which is a mega-biodiversity park and is recognised as one of the 34 world's biological hotspots. It boasts of rich wildlife such as tiger, leopard, bear, gaur, sambar, giant flying squirrel, etc., and is filled with wet evergreen-Shola forests. It is spread over 600.57 square kilometres. Birdwatching, hiking and trekking are some of the popular activities here.

Day 4: Chikmagalur Sightseeing | Chikmagalur to Mysore/ Mangalore

The first attraction to visit is the Yagachi Dam. Built in 2001, over River Yagachi which is a tributary of River Kaveri, this dam is spread over 1280 metres of length and has a height of 26 metres. The major attraction of this dam is the Yagachi Water Adventure Sports Centre. You can go for various water activities like banana boating, kayaking, speed boating, water scooters rides, etc.

From here, you leave for Belur, which is around 40 minutes away. Visit the ancient and architecturally marvellous Chennakeshava Temple. Its Hoysala temple complex has a unique star shape. Next you visit another ancient temple of Lord Shiva, Hoysaleshwara Temple in Halebidu. Built in the 12th century, this temple showcases Vijayanagara architecture with intricate carvings and sculptures.
