Day 1: Bangalore to Chikmagalur | Chikmagalur Arrival & Sightseeing

Day 3: Chikmagalur Sightseeing

The day begins by visiting Kemmanagundi. One of the prominent tourist places to visit in Chikmagalur, it boasts of panoramic views, exceptional sunset, gardens, scenic trails, waterfalls and even a quaint cafe, it is the perfect location to start your day. You will be driven to Belur, in your dedicated taxi. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes from Chikmagalur. You visit the famous star shaped Sri Chennakeshava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vijayanarayana. This temple is known for its grand Hoysala temple architecture, built in the 12th century. After the victory over Cholas in the battle of Talakad, this temple was built by the Hoyalasa King Vishnuvardhana.

Next leave for Halebidu, which is only 25 minutes from Belur. Here visit Hoysaleswara Temple, boasting of intricate carvings and excellent architecture. This twin shrine temple is said to be the largest temple built during the reign of Hoysala Kingdom. It was also built in the 12th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

From Halebidu, you leave for Shravanabelagola. The journey will take about 1 and half hours. Here witness one of the largest monolithic statues of the world- Gomateshwara Statue. It has a height of 57 feet and is built completely out of a single granite rock.
